Job Description

We are seeking a full-time Design Associate to provide support to our team throughout all stages of the design process.

This presents an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking to learn in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. While a formal education in design is not mandatory, a strong interest in design, construction, and project management is essential.

Our office is located in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, and we operate from Monday to Friday. However, occasional travel, job site visits, and project-related errands may be required.

Given our small office setup, we are looking for a team player who is willing to tackle both small and large tasks with equal enthusiasm.

Job Requirements

Key Qualifications:
- Minimum requirement of a Bachelor's degree
- At least 2 years of work experience, preferably in a non-remote office environment
- Proficiency in written and verbal communication
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Photoshop, Studio Designer, SketchUp, Canva, and Microsoft Excel
- Ability to thrive under pressure, meet deliverables, and adhere to deadlines

- Highly detail-oriented
- Results-driven with a proactive approach to taking initiative
- Exceptional multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize assignments effectively
- Prior knowledge of the interior design industry and familiarity with vendors
- Strong organizational and problem-solving aptitude
- Ability to follow instructions accurately without excessive supervision

Responsibilities of this role may include:
- Attending project meetings and diligently recording notes.
- Checking stock on fabrics.
- Requesting quotes and reserves from vendors, including pricing and lead times.
- Sorting office mail, accepting deliveries, and handling the unpacking, inspection, and repackaging of received items. Promptly notifying the team of incoming and outgoing items.
- Tracking orders from placement to installation.
- Coordinating the replacement or repair of damaged items.
- Following up with vendors to ensure the timely receipt of requested information.
- Organizing and maintaining the sample library, as well as any received fabric, furniture, lighting, etc. that we may be storing at the office.
- Coordinating the delivery and collection of products and samples.
- Generating preliminary CAD drawings of floor plans, elevations, and millwork.
- Producing preliminary renderings using Photoshop and SketchUp.
- Assisting in the creation of schedules for paint, lighting, appliances, and plumbing.
